Using acoustic emission to assess the tensile behaviour of textile reinforced cementitious (TRC) matrix composites

چکیده

The tensile behaviour of textile reinforced cementitious matrix composites (TRC) is investigated using acoustic emission monitoring. Three carbon-TRC-composites with different reinforcement ratios are tested. An unsupervised pattern recognition technique used to classify the signals. In combination tests on TRC-components, these clusters signals correlated cracking, textile–matrix interface damage, shear frictional mechanisms and behaviour. contribution each mechanism during loading quantified. Finally, data compared qualitatively evolutions crack width (measured by Digital Image Correlation) load-transfer length (obtained Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing measurement). A model predict from proposed gives satisfactory results. This paper shows that local TRC reflected in activity AE offers valuable information about damage processes TRC-composites.

Acoustic Emission Activity in Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites

This study was performed in the framework of a research program focused in the development of high tenacity polypropylene (PP) fibres for the reinforcement of cementitious composites. Precedent reports have demonstrated how micromechanical modelling was used to attain significant improvements with respect to the macroscopic properties of cementitious composites. These improvements have been bas...

Synergetic Use of Thermal and Acoustic Emission in Studying Tensile Behaviour of Fibre Reinforced Composites

The possibility to combine the use of acoustic emission and thermal emission as real-time monitoring techniques on carbon-epoxy composites is the subject of this paper. Tensile tests are therefore performed, using a cross-head speed not too high so to enable a reliable detection of acoustic emission signals, but suitable also for the needs of the thermal emission technique,. The latter techniqu...

Application of Acoustic Emission Analysis for Damage Investigations in Fibre and Textile Reinforced Composites

For the verification of pertinent failure and damage models of fibre and textile reinforced composites a clear identification of the particular damage entities is an essential premise. In such fibrous composites, the characteristic failure mechanisms are initiated on the microscale and result in a spontaneous release of elastic energy in terms of mechanical stress waves, the so-called acoustic ...

Analysis of Graphite Reinforced Cementitious Composites

This paper describes analytical methods that can be used to determine the deflections and stresses in highly compliant graphite-reinforced cementitious composites. It is demonstrated that the standard transform section method fails to provide accurate results when the elastic modulus ratio exceeds 20. So an alternate approach is formulated by using the rule of mixtures to determine a set of eff...
